Kitsune Goddess Japanese Themed Editorial shoot

This beautiful editorial was a celebration of Japanese culture, conceptualised by Wedding stylist Marie Phu of Lil Elements. Inspired by the colours and design of an incredible kimono, Marie thought that there should be a wedding that could allow both culture and modernism to shine through.

The garden-inspired florals with Japanese influences were used to create a zen garden touch with minimal decor, proving that you can have maximum impact with a simplified look. Drawing inspiration from the Kitsune or Fox Goddess for the boudoir element of the kimono shoot, Marie shows that you can stray from the traditional elements of boudoir photography and get sensual pictures dressed in a full kimono.

Japanese culture was incorporated into the decor by creating a traditional low dining sweetheart table. Yin and yang elements further expanded the theme throughout the tablescape and the look was finished off with sake glasses, delicate desserts and hand painted calligraphy on fan place cards.

Vendors

A shoot like this does not happen without the expertise of so many talented people and this blog post would be lacking if I failed to mention the fabulous vendors who made this amazing editorial, featured on Polka Dot Weddings, possible:

Styling and Concept – Lil Elements

Photography – Sugar Tree Photography

Makeup and Hair – Linda Q Artistry

Florals – Sweetpea Botanica

Desserts – One Bite Macarons

Acrylic Place Cards – Vild Welcome Board

Ring Box – Artiste Saku

Muse – Marie Phu

Dog – Yuki Snow Samoyed

This shoot was completely different from the aesthetic I am known to shoot and while I absolutely LOVE colour I tend to stick to more neutral tones when I’m selecting colour palettes for florals and decor. To say that I surprised myself with how much I enjoyed all these vibrant florals is an understatement and the significantly sized gallery below is testament to just how much I loved it!!! I hope you enjoy this beautiful, bright and vibrant gallery.

Until next time,

Mandy xx
