Whether it’s a birthday, baby shower, hen party, wedding or a girls get together, most functions have a theme and most importantly cake…and decor. And as women there’s often nothing we like more than to plan all the details down to the last teaspoon.

We can spend hours on Pinterest, pinning gorgeous pictures of cakes and decor, oohing and aahing over all the clever people out there who can make all these magnificent creations.

So in the lead up to Easter and in the spirit of all things pretty and sugary sweet, this is a post with some of my favourite cakes and decor I’ve had the privilege of capturing over the past little while. From wedding cheese cakes (not the creamy baked versions, but actual rolls of cheese….) to baby shower “naked” cakes and brightly coloured birthday party cakes in between, the variety is endless and the skill it takes construct these masterpieces never cease to amaze me.

I fell in love with this beautiful “family” tree. Such a special idea to adorn the wall of your nursery. Each person who attends the baby shower adds their thumb print and name to the tree – and the prints act as “leaves” to complete the beautiful picture.

Nothing more rustic and unique than a layered wedding cake made up of different types of cheese.
