Travel Series: Switzerland – Champrey
Champrey, the beautiful Swiss mountain village nestled between the peaks of the Dents-du-Midi and the summits of the Dents Blanches, is the perfect scenic ending to this travellers view of a small part of the country that stole my heart. As I finish off this travel series chronicling my visit to Switzerland, I feel the need to start planning a new trip…because this series has reignited a desire to go travelling to see another beautiful part of our incredible world! 🙂
This has been such a fun way for me to relive the trip of a lifetime and if you haven’t had the opportunity to read the first 4 posts you can get a glimpse of some of the beauty of Ollon, Gruyere, Aosta and the St. Bernard Pass and the amazing Chateau de Chillon by reading through the first 4 posts in the series.
Mountain Jewel
Champrey was the last of the towns I visited before I left Switzerland for home. A short train trip up the mountain gets you to this gorgeous mountain village. With 35 ski lifts and more than 1200 metres of vertical descents, this is a skiers dream playground in the winter months. But don’t let the lack of snow fool you… this is an adrenalin junkie’s playground in the summer months too. Travelling to the peaks via the cable car, mountain bikers with an adventurous streak, hop off the cable car or the ski lifts and race down the steep descents at breakneck speeds. I can’t say I was jumping out my skin to join them, I couldn’t even stomach looking down out the window of the cable car as it climbed the final (practically vertical) ascent to the summit #justsaying!! hahahaha.
Views for Miles
As you climb any of the many trails (some right along the edges of the highest cliffs, with no railings!!) the views are something I can’t quite describe and I’m not even going to try. I will leave my pictures to do the talking and even then I’m afraid they don’t quite do these majestic peaks justice.
Hopefully this series has given you a small glimpse into the country that has fascinated me since I was a little girl and saw episodes of Heidi with the majestic snow covered peaks. I don’t know if it was the mountains or the snow (it was probably the snow if I’m being honest, those of us who never see it are ALWAYS fascinated by it…#SouthernHemisphereproblems!!! hahaha) that fueled my fascination, but this trip cemented it. If you’ve never been, I highly recommend that you add it to your bucket list of Must See places. I can guarantee it will not disappoint.
I hope you enjoy these last images. They are all iPhone pictures so my apologies in advance that they aren’t quite the same quality as all the others have been, but I must admit the Panorama’s are pretty cool.

Switzerland is such a beautiful country! And there is so much variety too! Where is your favorite place in Switzerland? Champrey looks beautiful and majestic! 😍
It really is Jeanette! I absolutely loved it. I have to say that I fell in love with all of it. I love the small villages and the homey feel. Not like the big cities, the sense of a calmer lifestyle seems to be the drawcard for me. But Champrey was a definite favourite and Ollon! I really loved Ollon. 🙂
