December has always been one of my favourite months of the year. The Christmas cheer and summer holidays always bring a sense of relaxation and merriment and everyone is just that little bit more joyful. Long days spent at the pool or on the beach. Christmas shopping for the special people in your life. It’s the time of the year when we make special plans to catch up with family and that’s exactly what prompted Jane to book a shoot as a gift for her folks for Christmas, Jane’s siblings were going to be travelling up from Melbourne to spend Christmas with the rest of the family……Family Shoot and Christmas gift…sorted …2 birds with one stone!!! hahaha
The day of the Lewis family shoot arrived in the middle of what was a week of record breaking highs! All the weather reports were recording temps in the very high 30’s and the occasional 40 degree day. Our location, selected at least 2 months prior to our shoot, was chosen by Jane and her family because of the beautiful view of the harbour and city….BUT….the views were right in the open sun, with no shade in sight. ๐ Which meant we’d just have to start in the shade, until things cooled down a bit.
As with all well laid plans, there is bound to be a hiccup or 2…..and in our case, it turned out to be the heat…..even after an hour of shooting, the heat was no closer to dissipating, which meant we did the only thing we could to get the bridge in our pics……we ran into the sun, positioned everyone and then clicked away like my life depended on it…. we then scurried back into the safety of the shade.
When you look at the smiling faces of the Lewis family, you’d never guess that the temps were as high as they were. They were such good sports about the heat and the kids had an absolute ball and at the end of the day, as all parents know…..if the kids are happy, it’s been a good shoot.

Beautiful family session. I love their outfit choices.
Thanks so much Erica. The outfits were thanks to the Style guide I sent out before their shoot. It’s been a game changer for sure. x
Beautiful images & beautiful family!
Thanks so much Alissa
The family doesnโt look hot at all! Beautiful photos! I had the opposite problem on my last shoot – we were frozen!
Thank you so much! I must say with all the really hot weather we’ve been having lately I could do with being a little frozen for a few hours. ๐ hahahaha
Hi! I could have sworn I’ve been to this web site before but after going through many of the posts
I realized it’s new to me. Anyways, I’m definitely
happy I discovered it and I’ll be book-marking it
and checking back regularly!
