I first met Cherie when a mutual friend gave her my number to capture pictures for her and her lovely family. We had such a great time at that first shoot. We had an instant connection and her littles were really the sweetest and most adorable cherubs. So when Cherie decided she was taking up a side hustle and needed pictures for her new website, I was so delighted she called me for the task. And what a fun task it was. Cherie’s side hustle is an online toy store called The Toy Cabin – selling the most beautiful, colourful, quality branded children’s toys. While I don’t usually do website branding photography, I shoot A LOT of children and love their inquisitive natures and sweet innocent questions. So this shoot was right up my alley. There was no hesitation that this was definitely something I’d love to do!!
My brief from Cherie for the shoot was to incorporate the bright children’s toys and the children in a natural manner, showcasing the toys as well as the fun the children were having whilst playing with them. No set strings on what the pictures had to look like. I had complete creative freedom to bring her website brand to life. A dream brief, to say the least. There is nothing that makes my photographer’s heart happier than hearing that my clients trust my judgement and allow the creative process to unfold as we work through the shoot.
The toys cover a range of ages which meant we had littles ranging in age from 11 months – 9, which made for a very interesting afternoon…and only one real meltdown to speak of from our little models. #winning!!! Luckily for me, our little helpers were so engrossed with the beautiful toys taking their pictures was a breeze. For them it was an afternoon of playing with new toys and getting asked to look at the camera every now and then. What a delight!!! The bright toys made my job of creating brand images that pop and draw attention for the site so easy and the big smiles and happy faces of the little helpers genuinely enjoying the toys gave us the natural, fun, real look we were aiming for.
Oh to be a kid again to get to play with all these beautiful toys!
