I first had the pleasure of photographing the Varrie Family 3 years ago, when I was on location, shooting a destination wedding. Before that first shoot, I sent Rhoda and Allie styling ideas and mentioned that their shoot would take on a totally different look if they dressed it up a bit. Well…..dress it up they did and every shoot since then has been an absolute dream to shoot with this stylish family.

Our final shoot before I left South Africa (heartbreaking to say the least!! All of my clients have become such dear friends over the years and this session was so bittersweet) was at the gorgeous Union Buildings in Pretoria. The structured gardens and magnificent buildings complimented this family’s amazing sense of style and added an extra level of elegance. In celebration of Tarryn’s – or Tia as she’s affectionately known – upcoming 16th birthday, Rhoda, Allie and Tia and her significant other – Keano – stepped out in style to capture gorgeous images to showcase at the party and to display in a beautiful coffee table book for everyone to see. I love it when my clients print their images. In this digital age it’s so easy for take copious pictures on our phones or ipads or whatever device we have handy, but sadly that’s generally where we keep them and we never enjoy them in print form. That’s why all of my packages now include a few professional prints, because an image is only a picture once it’s printed. Who’s with me? 🙂
